Yacht Survey Types

The yacht surveys I undertake falls mainly into the following categories, but if there is something you want that does not appear below, please contact me. Click on the links to see the scope in more detail. At the bottom of this page you will find a list of the construction materials with which I am most familiar, with links to the appropriate pages for further details.

  • Pre-Purchase Yacht Surveys

  • Full or partial static non-destructive yacht surveys, including a valuation if the yacht is going to need one for insurance.

  • Insurance Yacht Surveys  

  • Similar to the Pre-purchase yacht-surveys as far as scope and conditions are concerned, but mainly with emphasis on those items which affect the boat's  safety and seaworthiness.

  • Valuations

  • If you just want a Yacht Valuation, the yacht can be viewed in the water.

  • Damage Surveys

  • Surveys confined to damage may be made in accordance with the client's requirements.

  • Tonnage Measurements

  • I carry out Tonnage Measurements for Part 1 Registration, on yachts up to 14m on behalf of the YBDSA. These can be included in pre-purchase surveys if required.

  • Supervision

  • This may involve drawing up yacht repair or refit specifications, obtaining estimates or quotes, overseeing work in progress, agreeing stage payments, and advising on invoices. I am particularly involved in supervision of new yachts under construction.

  • Claims

  • Investigating insurance claims for leading Underwriters.

  • SCV Coding

  • I undertake Small Commercial Vessels coding examinations on behalf of the YBDSA Certifying Authority.
